A head-scratching new quiz has challenged gamers to define a variety of well-known words.

Many of these words, such as hapless and bereft, are used in everyday language, while others, including bombastic, aren’t as common.

According to the puzzle creator Avi Blum, only 74% of adults get all of the below right.

So how well can you do? More at The Sun.

  1. quote: “circumlocution – the use of many words where fewer would do, especially in a deliberate attempt to be vague or evasive.”
    Also see “Politician”? 🙂

  2. 19/21 here. I had more trouble coping with some of the less readable fonts than the words themselves.

  3. 21/21 but 2 or so were guesses down from 2 options

  4. I only got 16, so don’t beat yourself up too much, Shaun.

  5. 16 here as well. My excuse is that some of those words are English and not Canadian 🙂

  6. I got 19.

    Frankly,75% seems pretty good!

  7. Shaun,
I scored 14 too… but some of the words aren’t that common, are they?
